ABOUT THE ARTIST
Madeline Marak is from Shreveport, Louisiana. She received her Masters of Fine Art from the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 2016. She received her Bachelors of Fine Art from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2013. She has exhibited at Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum in St. Louis, Contemporary Art Museum in St. Louis, Meadows Museum of Art in Shreveport, Des Lee Gallery in St. Louis, UNO Gallery in New Orleans, Carol Gallery in New Orleans, and more. She has been an artist in residence at Mildred Lane in Beach Lake, PA and Forest Park Forever Artist Residence in St. Louis, MO, Casa Na Ilha Art Residence in Ilhabela, Sao Pablo, Brazil and Burren College of Art Residency + Programme in Co. Claire, Ireland. Madeline participated in the 2018 Visual Artist Studios at Artspace in downtown Shreveport this summer and received to 2018 Shreveport Regional Arts Council Fellowship Award.
This is not a message of ideas that I am transmitting to you, but an instinctive ecstasy of whatever is hidden in nature and I fortell. And this is a feast of words. I write in signs that are more a gesture than a voice.
